Build in an ordinary popular architectural style, “the house on Panos street” dates to the beginning of 19th century. The Greek state expropriated the property and in 1981 the ministry of Culture and Tourism granted the use of the house to the Society for Ethnographic Studies, in order to house its collection. The façade of the house has been restored to its initial form and the indoor areas turned into exhibition spaces by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It consists of two floors that cover an area of some 255 sq. m. Before it became a museum, “the house on Panos street” was the residence of various families, who inhabited it for more than a hundred and fifty years. |
